Finally the wait is over. The results of the JEE Main 2013 was declared today. Out of all students, 1.5 lakh candidates will sit for the JEE (Advanced) for seeking admission to the IITs. As per a release by CBSE, 12.60 lakh candidates had registered for the JEE (Main) held last month. Class 12th Top 20% Cut Off To Be Declared by 10th July

As per the new format, IIT council decided that ONLY top 20% students, in their respective class 12th board examination, will be considered for the final merit list prepared for IIT admission. After a series of discussions, announcements, and war of words with IITs, HRD ministry declared that a compromise solution has been reached for admission to IITs. After rejection from IITs, HRD has decided that Class 12th marks will not have any weightage in preparing the merit list for admission to IITs in 2013 and beyond. Finally, all parties agreed to a common entrance examination for admission to CFTIs (centrally funded technical institutes) in 2013 and beyond. In the emergency meeting called on 27 June to decide the IIT JEE 2013 pattern, IIT council decided to go with the newly proposed common entrance test, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), however with some modifications. A compromise formula on the new controversial exam formula has been worked out between the government and the Indian Institutes of Technology at an IIT council meeting today.
