IIT JEE 2012 result is declared yesterday night. Check the website:
A student of Faridabad’s Modern Vidya Niketan School, Arpit Agarwal, topped IIT-JEE 2012 with a score of 385 out of 408. Bijoy Kochar from Chandigarh stood second all over India while Nishant Kaushik from Bhilai achieved the third place. A total of 24,112 applicants are given with ranks (including all categories) and 19,426 have been shortlisted for counselling for admission to 9,647 seats in the IITs and other institutes.
IITs allowed re-checking of answer sheet and applicants were given time between May 5 and May 10 to apply. However, only less than 100 candidates applied for re-checking indicating that IIT JEE had minor cases. Also, only around six or eight genuine cases of errors, said IIT officials. Nearly five lakh candidates appeared for the JEE this year. IITs admitted that two questions in the question paper were incorrect. Hence, while examination committee gave zero marks to the candidates for the two questions for calculating the merit list. The merit ranks are given to candidates who attempted both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Marks in Physics in IIT JEE 2012 will be equal to marks in Physics section of Paper 1 plus marks in Physics section of Paper 2. Similar procedure will be followed for Chemistry and Mathematics. The sum of the marks obtained in the individual subjects in IIT-JEE 2012 will be the aggregate marks for the candidate. The cut off for JEE was already announced by IITs some days back.
