The Conference of State & UT Education Ministers’ was held on 22nd February, 2012 with Kapil Sibal, Minister for Human Resource Development, Communications and IT, Government of India in the chair. The verdict is out. After meeting with all the states on 22nd Feb, HRD ministry announced that it will go ahead with a common entrance test called ISEET. Although few states raised objection on a single common test, most of the states are fine with the proposal. That means EAMCET will be scrapped and ISEET will be used for admission to engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Last week, HRD announced the decision to conduct one single entrance examination for all engineering programmes in India. But now comes the difficult part, to on-board all the states which are running their own version of state entrance examinations from a long time.
