As per the new format, IIT council decided that ONLY top 20% students, in their respective class 12th board examination, will be considered for the final merit list prepared for IIT admission. After rejection from IITs, HRD has decided that Class 12th marks will not have any weightage in preparing the merit list for admission to IITs in 2013 and beyond. Finally, all parties agreed to a common entrance examination for admission to CFTIs (centrally funded technical institutes) in 2013 and beyond. In the emergency meeting called on 27 June to decide the IIT JEE 2013 pattern, IIT council decided to go with the newly proposed common entrance test, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), however with some modifications. IIT Delhi also decides to go IIT Kanpur way. ‘Reject’ is the verdict announced by the IIT Delhi senate in a meeting today, 21 June 2012.
